Water Quality
The concentration of phosphorus (ortho-phosphate) in Galway rivers has decreased since 2010. This is in line with the decrease observed across the river basin district. Although it is not possible to attribute this decrease to any particular initiative, it is welcome and should be built upon. Notwithstanding this, several rivers in Galway have problems with excessive phosphorus (Kilcolgan, Clarinbridge, Carrowmoneash and Bearna Stream (Freeport)).
